Privacy Policy

Version 2.0 | Effective 10 September 2026

We collect very little. If you fill in a form, we get your name and contact details. If you agree to cookies, we get some usage data.

We use it to reply to you, to keep the site working, and — only if you say yes — to send you our newsletter and measure how the site is used.

We never sell your data.

You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or tell us to stop, at any time. Email privacy@claria.com.

Claria Ltd runs the www.claria.com website. This notice explains what personal/business data we collect when you use it, why we use it, who else sees it, and what rights you have. We handle personal data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

Claria Ltd is responsible for the personal data described here. In data protection law that makes us the “controller”.

Definitions

Service

Service is the https://claria.com website operated by Claria Ltd

Personal Data

Personal Data means data about a living individual who can be identified from that data (or from those and other information either in our possession or likely to come into our possession).

Usage Data

Usage Data is data collected automatically either generated by the use of the Service or from the Service infrastructure itself (for example, the duration of a page visit).

Cookies

Cookies are small pieces of data stored on your device (computer or mobile device).

Data Controller

Controller means the person or organisation that decides why and how personal data is processed, alone or with others (Article 4(7) UK GDPR; section 6, Data Protection Act 2018).

For the purpose of this Privacy Policy, we are a Data Controller of your Personal Data.

This notice does not cover the work we do for clients. On a client project we handle personal data on our client’s instructions — they are the controller, and their own privacy notice applies. What we must do in that role is set out in the data processing terms of the relevant services agreement (Articles 4(8) and 28 UK GDPR).

Data Processors (or Service Providers)

Data Processor (or Service Provider) means any natural or legal person who processes the data on behalf of the Data Controller.

We may use the services of various Service Providers in order to process your data more effectively.

Data Subject (or User)

Data Subject is any living individual who is using our Service and is the subject of Personal Data.

Information Collection and Use

We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you.

Types of Data Collected
Personal Data

While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you (“Personal Data”). Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to:

  • Email Address
  • First name and last name
  • Phone number
  • Cookies and Usage Data
  • Usage Data

We may also collect information on how the Service is accessed and used (“Usage Data”). This Usage Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our Service that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

Do you have to give us anything?

No. Fields marked as required on a form are simply the ones we need in order to reply — if you leave them blank we won’t be able to help. Signing up to our newsletter is entirely optional, and nothing on this site is a legal or contractual requirement (Article 13(2)(e) UK GDPR).

Tracking & Cookies Data

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on our Service and hold certain information.

Cookies are small files stored on your device. Some contain a unique identifier, so we treat cookie data as personal data rather than calling it anonymous. We also use beacons, tags and scripts for the same purposes.

We set essential cookies automatically, because the site cannot work without them. Everything else is set only if you say yes on our cookie banner. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and you can change your mind at any time using the “Manage cookies” link at the bottom of every page. Turning off non-essential cookies will not stop you using the site (regulation 6, Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003).

Why we use it, and how long we keep it

The law says we must have a good reason for everything we do with personal data. Here is ours, purpose by purpose.

Where our reason is a genuine business interest of our own, we have weighed that interest against your rights and written down the result. Ask us and we will send you a copy.

Retention Of Data

We keep personal data only for as long as we need it. The period for each purpose is in the table above. If the law requires us to keep something for longer — or we need it to resolve a dispute — we keep only what is necessary for that.

Usage data is generally kept for 12 months. At the end of the period we securely delete it or make it permanently anonymous.

Sending data outside the UK

Some of our suppliers are based abroad, so your data may be processed outside the UK. We only allow this where the law recognises a proper safeguard:

  • Countries the UK considers adequate — including the EEA. No extra step is needed (section 17A, Data Protection Act 2018).
  • The United States — where the supplier is certified under the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
  • Everywhere else — the International Data Transfer Agreement, or the UK Addendum to the standard contractual clauses, backed by a written risk assessment.

We do not rely on your consent to move data abroad. Email privacy@claria.com if you would like a copy of the safeguards for any particular transfer (Articles 13(1)(f) and 44–49 UK GDPR).

Disclosure of Data

Disclosure for Law Enforcement

We may have to disclose personal data if the law requires it — for example a court order, or a valid request from a regulator or the police. We check who is asking and what they are entitled to and give only what is necessary. Where we rely on an exemption we do so under section 15 of and Schedule 2 to the Data Protection Act 2018.

Legal Requirements

Claria Ltd may disclose your Personal Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:

  • To comply with a legal obligation
  • To protect and defend the rights or property of Claria Ltd
  • To prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service
  • To protect the personal safety of users of the Service or the public
  • To protect against legal liability

Security of Data

We take security seriously and hold ISO/IEC 27001 certification for our information security management system. In practice that means data encrypted in transit and at rest; access limited by role, with multi-factor authentication on admin accounts; logging, monitoring and regular vulnerability testing; data protection training for everyone who works here; and security checks on every supplier before we use them. No system is completely secure, but we review these measures regularly and act on what we find (Articles 5(1)(f) and 32 UK GDPR).

Your rights

You have the following rights over your personal data. They are not absolute — occasionally an exemption applies — and if that happens we will explain why.

To use any of them, email privacy@claria.com.

  • See your data. Ask whether we hold anything about you, and get a copy. (Article 15)
  • Delete it. Ask us to erase it where one of the legal grounds applies. (Article 17)
  • Correct it. Have anything wrong or incomplete put right. (Article 16)
  • Object. Tell us to stop. For marketing this is absolute; for anything else we will stop unless we have compelling grounds not to. (Article 21)
  • Pause it. Ask us to restrict what we do with your data while something is being sorted out. (Article 18)
  • Move it. Get your data in a machine-readable format, or have it sent to someone else. (Article 20)
  • Withdraw consent. Where we relied on your consent, take it back at any time. That does not make what we did beforehand unlawful. (Article 7(3))

We do not make any decision about you by automated means alone (Article 22 UK GDPR).

We may ask you to confirm who you are, but we will not ask for more than we need. We reply within one month. If a request is complicated, we may take up to two months more, and we will tell you within the first month if so. There is no charge unless a request is clearly excessive (Article 12 UK GDPR).

If you are not happy, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s data protection regulator: ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113, or Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF. Going to the ICO does not affect your right to go to court or claim compensation (Article 77 UK GDPR; sections 165 and 167–169, Data Protection Act 2018).

Who else sees your data

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. We do use suppliers who handle it on our behalf: cloud hosting and infrastructure (Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services); customer relationship management and email marketing platforms; website analytics and advertising (Google); IT support and security providers; and our professional advisers — lawyers, accountants and auditors.

Each of them has a written contract with us that meets the standard set by Article 28 UK GDPR, and none may use your data for their own purposes or pass it on without our instruction(s).

Analytics

We may use third-party Service Providers to monitor and analyze the use of our Service.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, but only with your consent. We have turned on IP anonymisation and turned off the sharing of analytics data with Google’s advertising services. Google acts as our processor for this.

You can opt-out of having made your activity on the Service available to Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js, and dc.js) from sharing information with Google Analytics about visits activity.

For more information on the privacy practices of Google, please visit the Google Privacy & Terms web page: https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/

Behavioral Remarketing

If you consent to advertising cookies, we also use remarketing — showing you our ads on other websites based on the pages you looked at here. That counts as profiling under Article 4(4) UK GDPR. You can object at any time, for any reason or none, and withdrawing consent through “Manage cookies” stops it immediately (Article 21(2) UK GDPR).

Google AdWords

Google AdWords remarketing service is provided by Google Inc.

You can opt-out of Google Analytics for Display Advertising and customize the Google Display Network ads by visiting the Google Ads Settings page: https://www.google.com/settings/ads

Google also recommends installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on – https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout – for your web browser. Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on provides visitors with the ability to prevent their data from being collected and used by Google Analytics.

For more information on the privacy practices of Google, please visit the Google Privacy & Terms web page: https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/

Marketing

We email you about our services only if you have asked us to, or if you are already a client and the message is about something like what we have already done for you (regulation 22, PECR 2003).

Every message says clearly that it is from us and carries an unsubscribe link. You can also just email privacy@claria.com. You have an absolute right to stop marketing — you do not need to give a reason, and we act on it straight away (Article 21(2) UK GDPR).

If we did not get your details from you

Sometimes we find business contact details elsewhere: professional networking sites such as LinkedIn, company websites and directories, events we attend, or a referral from a client or partner. We only take business details — name, job title, employer, work email.

We do this because we have a legitimate interest in reaching organisations that may need our help. If we contact you this way we will point you to this notice within a month, and no later than our first message. You can tell us to stop at any time (Articles 14 and 21(1) UK GDPR).

Sensitive data

We do not collect special category data — things like health, ethnicity or religious belief — through this website. If you apply for a job with us, any such information is covered by our separate candidate privacy notice (Article 9 UK GDPR; section 10 and Schedule 1, Data Protection Act 2018).

Links to Other Sites

Our Service may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit.

We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Children

This is a business website. It is not aimed at children.

We do not knowingly collect children’s data. In the UK a child can consent to an online service from age 13 (Article 8 UK GDPR; section 9, Data Protection Act 2018). If you are a parent or guardian and think a child has given us something, email privacy@claria.com and we will delete it.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We update this notice from time to time. Each version is numbered and dated at the top of the page, and we keep a record of what changed.

If we make a material change — for example, if we start using your data for something new — we will tell you by email and put a notice on the site before it takes effect (Article 13(3) UK GDPR).

Ask us and we will send you any earlier version.
